A Table Prepared
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his intention toward me was love.
Song of Solomon 2:4 NRSV

Psalm 23 tells us that Our Lord prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies.
The table mentioned can be a literal table, here on earth, where God physically provides for us despite those who might be against us. But perhaps more important is the table of our heart where God is present, serving up inner comfort and assurance that He has not abandoned us during hard times in general and also when we are facing opposition.
Best of all, we each have a seat reserved at the heavenly banquet table, with a place card bearing our name. Maybe we'll be sitting near one another on that glorious day when we are all together at the wedding feast of the Lamb!
Prayer
Lord, I spread before You the table of my heart. Help me to slow down and see how beautifully You have laid the table before me here on earth. I can't wait to one day be seated at Your heavenly table for the wedding feast.
Quote
Be known to us in breaking bread, But do not then depart;
Saviour, abide with us, and spread Thy table in our heart.
— James Montgomery (1771-1854)
Thought
If God has already prepared a table for me, then I don’t need to fight for a place or prove my worth. My task is simply to "wash my hands," sit, receive, and let His love nourish and steady me.
Question
Is there a way I can prepare the table of my heart to more fully receive Him? In what way is God's table spread before me at this moment?
