Fanfare to Loving Care

Updated: 8 hours ago

Did he not make them one, with flesh and spirit? —Malachi 2:15 NAB

Together at the beginning with fanfare.

Together at the end with loving care.

Today we see two deeply meaningful “marriage markers,” but the latter has more depth — after sixty years together. Every day, we make small decisions to grow towards our spouse or move further away. Moving towards often means putting the other person first, which means placing ourselves second.

My husband and I recently had our marriage blessed at church in celebration of our “ruby” anniversary. It was a beautiful and satisfying moment.

Prayer

Lord, whether we are married or single, keep us steadfast in faith and friendship.

Quote

It is not your love that sustains the marriage, but from now on, the marriage that sustains your love. — Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison, 27-28

Thank you for reading Devotions from the Olive Grove!

Dear Olive Tree friends,

I decided to move the deeper devotion with the PRISM™ over to my Substack page. The orange button above will take you there. Substack is better structured for this than the blog page of my website.

I pray you will be blessed by reading my devotions, whether on my website or on Substack. Thank you for your patience as I wander about in the back end of websites and cyberworld.

Summer blessings to you and yours!

Lisa
