And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. - Luke 9:23 (DRB)

Every individual has a uniquely fashioned cross.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke record Jesus' words which call us to take up our own cross and follow Him.

Jesus is our leader and example: And bearing his own cross, he went forth to that place which is called Calvary. (John 19:17 DRB)

May we follow Him and bear our specific cross with courage and hope.

Prayer

Lord, cause me to accept and bear my own cross willingly while going forth along life's road.

Quotes

I tell you that you have less to suffer in following the cross than in serving the world and its pleasures. // St. John Vianney (1786 - 1859)

Keep, O keep us, Saviour dear, Ever constant by thy side: That with Thee we may appear, At the eternal Eastertide.

//George Hunt Smyttan (1822-1870)

Thought

Let us each take a moment to consider the cross that is uniquely ours.
