In those days there was no king in Israel. —Judges 18:1 NRSV

The uppermost candle is out, but the lower candles on each side shine brightly.
Sometimes a leader is absent. Perhaps it is due to burnout, retirement, other commitments, or maybe even a differing viewpoint. There are times when the leading light may grow dim or could fail to shine. But the lower lights can still glow with the perpetual light from Heaven. And the glory of God will continue in that place.
Prayer
God of light, allow us to shine brightly for You from the sidelines.
Quote
"Allow the light and the healing presence of Christ to shine brightly through your lives. In that way, all those who come in contact with you will discover the loving kindness of God." //St. John Paul II (1920 - 2005)
Thought
What does shining the light of Christ look like in my life today and within the group of which I am a part?

Love this. Just heard a song saying that even though the clouds may cover the sun, there is a light shining out there. Important to remember that there might be times when we feel an overcast over us, but the hope in Christ keeps us going.
