Not Impossible

In old age they still produce fruit. – Psalm 92:14 (NRSV)

At the end of the season, a beautiful fruit might burst forth. It's possible and it happens.

Abraham was 100 and Sarah 90 when Isaac was born.

Moses was 80 when God spoke to him from the burning bush, calling him to return to Egypt to liberate his people.

Jesus turned water into wine towards the end of the wedding reception at Cana, saving the best wine for last.

Prayer

Lord, please bring forth beautiful fruit in my life, even in later years.

Quote

Let your old age be childlike, and your childhood like old age; that is, so that neither may your wisdom be with pride, nor your humility without wisdom.

// St. Augustine of Hippo (354 - 430)

Thought

Can you think of an older person who is producing beautiful fruit right now?

Despite our shortcomings, we ask God to help us be Overcomers. Here's my devotion as seen last Sunday in "Strength & Grace" magazine for caregivers, published by Guideposts.
