Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
—Matthew 24:35 NRSV

This sign stood in front of a church building for decades, its scripture messages being changed periodically.
Then a businessman bought the church property. He demolished the church building, but the story goes that the township's historic commission ordered for the sign to remain as part of the historic registry.
Did the church member who removed the letters from the previous verse and slid the letters of this verse into the tracking slots — did that person know those words would prevail on the sign and thus go down in history? The weapon — a bulldozer poised to raze the sign —did not succeed. Instead the Biblical words of Isaiah proclaim the power of God to passersby until the end of time.
Lord Jesus, Thank you that Your words stand firm when everything around us shifts and fades away.
Let the reading of Scripture be your delight, and the Scriptures your heart's pasture. — — St. Jerome (c. 347 - 420 AD)
