Withering Wonderment

The grass withers, the flower wilts, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8 (NAB)

How beautiful the flower is in season, yet how quickly it dies off. Extreme heat and lack of rain can speed the wilting process, but no perfect conditions ever exist to prevent eventual drooping and withering.

But grace remains... but God's Grace!

Prayer

Lord, I am a flower that wilts. Thank you that Your grace is sufficient in my weakness and that Your Word stands forever.

Quote

Without thy grace we waste away like flowers that wither and decay.

//Charles Coffin (1676-1749)

Reflection

In what ways do you experience the grace of God amidst human frailty?

My first devotional book will be published this fall! Minding Mom 365: A Caregiver's Devotional Story has 52 brief devotions based on the year I spent with my mom after my dad passed away unexpectedly. It will make a great gift for the caregiver you know. Email me if you'd like to be notified once it is published.  lisa@lisalivezey.com.
