The records are ancient. – I Chronicles 4:22 (RSV)

They are estimated to be 800 years old, these historic messages found upon a cliff in Nevada. Who were these people and what were they trying to convey? Did they know their petroglyphs would stand the test of time?
We have other sacred messages from ancient times, first written on papyrus and parchment. They were translated into Latin by St. Jerome in the fourth century, then preserved and painstakingly replicated by medieval monks, then printed on a press by German Catholic Johann Gutenberg in 1455 and now found in nine out of ten U.S. households[i]. Sacred scripture certainly has stood the test of time. It is at our fingertips to be read, studied, grappled with, and applied.
Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for the faithful ones over the ages to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for preserving the Holy Scriptures. Help us to be diligent readers and followers of these words.
Quote
Make knowledge of the Scripture your love...Live with them, meditate on them, make them the sole object of your knowledge and inquiries. // St. Jerome (c 342 - 420)
Thought
How much time do you spend reading or listening to Sacred Scripture? Even five minutes per day of the Holy Bible can be life-changing.
