He nourished him with honey from the rock, and with oil from the flinty crag. – Deuteronomy 32:13 (NIV)

The Lord Himself is our source and sustenance. As we remain in Him, we can bring forth beauty even when trying to grow in a dry and barren land.
Putting our faith in Him, we can defy the odds and mature – standing strong.

Prayer
Nourish me, Heavenly Father. Help me to grow strong and beautiful in a barren land, as a testimony to Your provision.
Quote
So long thy power hath blest me, sure it still will lead me on. O'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, till the night is gone. //John Henry Newman (1801-1890), Welsh and English Hymns and Anthems, #27
Thought
Think of a relationship or situation in which you feel bare and exposed. Consider how God may be sustaining you and even featuring you as you grow amidst the difficulty.
Note: Today's devotion is seventh in a series of eight featuring images from my recent Grand Canyon trip along with quotes from my favorite hymn book, Welsh and English Hymns and Anthems.

I love the blending of scripture, reflection, and real-life observations. Lisa’s very personal and insightful view sets Minding Mom apart from other books in this genre. I highly recommend that anyone who wants to contemplate life, where they’re going, and where they’ve been, not just read this book but sit with it and let it become absorbed into their system. They will be the richer for it.
