The Lord will fulfil his purpose for me; thy steadfast love, O Lord endures for ever. Do not forsake the work of thy hands. —Psalm 138:8 RSV

This piano was cumbersome and weathered, headed for the dumpster. But the part that makes music refused to come apart. There was still life left in this instrument.

The Master Craftsman knows His instrument. We might feel weathered and ready for the dumpster, but what He placed inside us still has value and the potential to bless others. Not only can God repurpose and repair us bit by bit, He can fix our royal messes — even those which seem irreparable.

Prayer

Lord, to take us apart if needed. Replace what needs replacing. Fix what is broken. Tune the parts that are off key. Put us back together in a new way so we can play beautiful sounds that glorify You.

Quote

What kind of a watchman am I? Far from the heights to which I aspire, I am constrained by my weakness. And yet — the one who created me and redeemed me and all humanity can give me, even in my unworthiness, some grace to glimpse the whole of life, and the skill and ability to speak of what I see.

//St. Gregory the Great, 64th Bishop of Rome (c. 540-604 AD)

Thought

When our shortcomings are completely exposed for all to see, we can still be assured of God's love and continued work in our lives.
