So I say, “Gone is my glory, and all that I had hoped for from the LORD.”

—Lamentations 3:18 NRSV

These potatoes were in a bag that got pushed to the back of my pantry closet. They were left unseen, neglected — neither used nor placed in the garage or refrigerator with plans for use.

What happened while they were in the dark, crowded place? The very process that made them feel forgotten and useless allowed for new growth to take place.

Prayer

God of growth, forgive us for assuming that You have forgotten us.

Quote

Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility.

//St Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD)

Thought

Growth rarely happens overnight.
